Donation Updates | Unveiling Ceremony for the Jiangxi Bioproducts Research Institute Co., Ltd. Named Laboratory (Reprinted)

On the afternoon of September 26, 2023, our school held a donation ceremony and naming ceremony for the laboratory donated by Jiangxi Bioproducts Research Institute Co., Ltd. to Southern University of Science and Technology. Representatives from the donor, Jiangxi Bioproducts Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jiangxi Bio), including Chairman Jing Yue and Administrative and Human Resources Director Zhang Aiping; members of the school's president's office, Vice Chairman of the Education Foundation Ye Qin; Director of the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Bian Jinsong; Chair Professor Wang Peng; Assistant Professor Li Liang; and Secretary-General of the Education Foundation Geng Jun, etc., attended the event.

In his speech, Ye Qin expressed gratitude to Jiangxi Bio. Jiangxi Bio's two donations to the Education Foundation are invaluable, representing not only recognition of the school's achievements but also strong support for the school's exploration of cutting-edge disciplines. The establishment of the "Southern University of Science and Technology School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology - Jiangxi Bioproducts Research Institute Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Drug Research Laboratory," further strengthens the connection and cooperation between the school and the enterprise, jointly promoting the output and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, giving back to society and serving societal needs.
Awarding of Donation Commemorative Gifts
Jing Yue stated that Jiangxi Bio's relationship with SUSTech began during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. After the two sides began cooperating, they fully leveraged their respective strengths, achieving fruitful research results and successfully developing a broad-spectrum antiviral drug against COVID-19, paving the way for the industrialization of research results from the laboratory. This previous cooperation laid a solid foundation for the establishment of the named laboratory. Jiangxi Bio will continue to uphold its original aspirations and, with the support of SUSTech's scientific research strength, continue to deepen its cooperation with SUSTech, making greater contributions to the nation and society, and helping the Greater Bay Area to build a leading biopharmaceutical industry innovation center in China and even the world.
Bian Jinsong introduced the development and faculty strength of the Department of Pharmacology and expressed gratitude for Jiangxi Bio's donation and support. This donation marks the first named laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology, holding significant importance. He expressed hope for more fruitful results from future cooperation between Jiangxi Bio and the Department of Pharmacology, and also hoped for more corporate donations to establish named laboratories, enabling the school's research to move towards clinical application.
Wang Peng stated that the path from basic research to market application is like going from 0 to 1 and from 1 to 100. He expressed gratitude for Jiangxi Bio's donation, support, and trust, which helps professors focus on research, enabling the industrial development of collaborative research results and the widespread application of cutting-edge products to benefit society.
Li Liang stated that the previous friendly cooperation with Jiangxi Bio in the field of infectious disease prevention and control has explored a complete platform path from upstream to downstream and from research to transformation. He expressed gratitude for Jiangxi Bio's donation and support in creating a demonstration case of scientific research and industry working hand in hand. In the future, the donated and named laboratory will be used as a platform to make greater contributions to the establishment of the city's immune system.
