Donation News | Our School Holds the Unveiling Ceremony of the Laboratory Named after Jiangxi Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. Donation (Reprint)

On the afternoon of September 26, 2023, our university held a donation ceremony and naming laboratory unveiling ceremony for Jiangxi Biological Products Research Institute Co., Ltd.'s donation to Southern University of Science and Technology. Representatives of the donor Jiangxi Biological Products Research Institute Co., Ltd. (referred to as Jiangxi Biological) included Chairman Jing Yue and Director of Administration and Human Resources Zhang Aiping. Attendees from our university included members of the President's Office, Vice Chairman of the Education Foundation Ye Qin, Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the School of Medicine Bian Jinsong, Chair Professor Wang Peng, Assistant Professor Li Liang, and Secretary-General of the Education Foundation Geng Jun.

Unveiling Ceremony of the "Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Southern University of Science and Technology - Jiangxi Biological Products Research Institute Infectious Disease Prevention and Treatment Drug Development Laboratory"

Ye Qin expressed gratitude to Jiangxi Biological in his speech. Jiangxi Biological has donated twice to the Education Foundation, and the repeated donation is especially precious. This not only recognizes the school's educational achievements but also strongly supports the school's exploration of cutting-edge disciplines through practical actions. The establishment and naming of the laboratory "Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Southern University of Science and Technology - Jiangxi Biological Products Research Institute Infectious Disease Prevention and Treatment Drug Development Laboratory" will further strengthen the connection and cooperation between the university and the enterprise, jointly promoting the output and transformation of scientific and technological achievements to give back to and serve societal needs.

Donation Commemoration Presentation

Jing Yue stated that Jiangxi Biological and Southern University of Science and Technology formed a partnership during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. After cooperation, both parties fully leveraged their respective advantages and achieved fruitful research results, successfully developing a broad-spectrum anti-COVID-19 drug, paving the way for the transformation of scientific research from the laboratory to industrialization. The previous cooperation laid a solid foundation for the establishment of the named laboratory. Jiangxi Biological will continue to adhere to its original mission and looks forward to deepening cooperation with Southern University of Science and Technology with the support of its scientific research strength, making greater contributions to the country and society, and helping the Greater Bay Area build a nationally and globally leading innovation hub for the biopharmaceutical industry.

Bian Jinsong introduced the development and faculty strength of the Department of Pharmacology and expressed gratitude for Jiangxi Biological's donation support. This donation is the first named laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology and holds great significance. It is hoped that Jiangxi Biological and the Department of Pharmacology will achieve more fruitful results in future cooperation, and that more corporate donations for named laboratories will follow, enabling the university's scientific research to advance toward clinical application.

Wang Peng stated that the path from basic research to market application is like the process from 0 to 1 and from 1 to 100. He thanked Jiangxi Biological for its donation support and trust, which helps professors focus on research, enabling the industrialization of cooperative scientific research results, allowing cutting-edge products to be widely applied and benefit society.

Li Liang said that earlier friendly cooperation with Jiangxi Biological in the field of infectious disease prevention and treatment has now explored and formed a complete platform path from upstream to downstream, from research to transformation. He thanked Jiangxi Biological for its donation support, creating a demonstration case of scientific research and industry advancing hand in hand. In the future, this named laboratory established by the donation will serve as a platform to jointly contribute more to the establishment of the urban immune system.
