This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, as well as the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Central Revolutionary Base Area and the Chinese Soviet Republic. The former central Soviet areas such as southern Jiangxi were experimental fields for the governance and administration of the Communist Party of China. The Party's strategies and tactics were tested and rehearsed here. In the fiery practice of creating revolutionary base areas, establishing red regimes, and exploring revolutionary paths, countless revolutionary predecessors and martyrs, with the firm belief that "a single spark can start a prairie fire," forged the spirit of the Soviet areas characterized mainly by firm belief, pragmatism, dedication to the people, integrity, hard work, striving for excellence, and selfless dedication. The spirit of the Soviet areas was nurtured during the great struggle of establishing and developing base areas in the Land Revolution War period, formed in the great rehearsal of the Party's governance, and emerged from the great exploration combining the basic principles of Marxism with the specific practice of the Chinese revolution. It is the inheritance and development of the great founding spirit of the Party and an important part of the spiritual lineage of the Chinese Communists.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Party, General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly conducted in-depth inspections and research in the former central Soviet areas, commemorating revolutionary martyrs and emphasizing the vigorous promotion of the Soviet area spirit, the inheritance of red genes, and the importance of not forgetting the Party's original mission and revolutionary ideals. On the new journey, we must deeply study and implement the important speeches of General Secretary Xi Jinping, vigorously promote the great spirit of the Soviet areas, inspire fighting spirit with the Party's struggle history, strengthen faith with the Party's glorious traditions and fine style, enlighten wisdom with the Party's practical achievements, and brilliantly write the Jiangxi chapter of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way.

The Soviet area spirit embodies both the common revolutionary spirit of the Chinese Communists and the distinctive characteristics and individuality of the Soviet area period. It is a concentrated expression of the political character and spiritual qualities of the Chinese Communists.

The political quality of firm belief. Firm belief is the soul of the Soviet area spirit, prominently reflected in the firm conviction that "a single spark can start a prairie fire." In January 1930, Comrade Mao Zedong, facing doubts within the Red Army about "how long the Red Flag would last," put forward the famous assertion that "a single spark can start a prairie fire," which not only strengthened the ideals and beliefs of all Party members and soldiers but also revealed the inevitable trend and objective law of the victory and development of the Chinese revolution. The Soviet area military and civilians, holding the belief that "a single spark can start a prairie fire," firmly believed in the inevitable victory of the Chinese revolution, continuously overcoming various hardships, advancing courageously, repeatedly surviving desperate situations, growing stronger with each setback, igniting the revolutionary spark on this "land in need of revolution," and eventually turning it into a prairie fire.

The pragmatic work style. Pragmatism is the essence of the Soviet area spirit, prominently reflected in the insistence on investigation and research and the opposition to "book worship." In the process of creating and developing the Soviet areas, Comrade Mao Zedong took the lead in conducting in-depth investigations and research, writing more than 100,000 words in detailed reports such as "Xunwu Investigation," "Xingguo Investigation," "Changgeng Township Investigation," and "Caixi Township Investigation," grasping the real situation of the Soviet areas, and then formulating a series of correct policies, leading the Party and the people to explore a great path for the Chinese revolution. During the central Soviet area period, Comrade Mao Zedong emphasized that every Communist Party member should constantly think of winning over the masses as a monk chants "Amitabha," sincerely seeking benefits for the masses, so that the broad masses regard the revolution as their life and their supreme honor. In the process of creating and developing the Soviet areas, the Communist Party of China implemented a series of people-oriented measures such as land revolution and labor laws, sincerely seeking benefits for the people, winning high recognition from the Soviet area masses, and building an indestructible copper wall and iron wall. The Soviet area masses sincerely praised, "The Communist Party is truly good; it thinks of everything for us."

The political character of integrity and honesty. Integrity and honesty are the qualities of the Soviet area spirit, prominently reflected in the "good style of Soviet area cadres." During the Soviet area period, Party cadres, from the Chairman of the Chinese Soviet Government to township Soviet staff, received no salary. Liu Qiyao, Chairman of the Jiangxi Soviet Government, after being scattered by the enemy and struggling to survive by begging for rice, endured hardships and did not touch the gold bars and silver coins he had, earning the nickname "the rice-begging man with a fortune." The Party and the Soviet government issued a set of effective anti-corruption systems including the workers' and peasants' procuratorate system, accounting system, auditing system, and intra-Party supervision system, established the Central Audit Committee, fired the first shot against corruption in the history of the Communist Party of China, "making all government staff understand that embezzlement and waste are great crimes." On September 11, 1934, the Central Audit Committee of the Soviet government announced in its audit report that only the Soviet government was an unprecedentedly genuine clean government.

The fine tradition of hard struggle. Hard struggle is the essence of the Soviet area spirit, prominently reflected in "many hardships and battles in starting a business." Due to the enemy's cruel military "encirclement and suppression" and strict economic blockade, the life of the Soviet area military and civilians was extremely difficult. Facing harsh material conditions and difficult revolutionary struggles, the Party and the Red Army always maintained high morale and a courageous revolutionary spirit, enabling the revolutionary cause to survive and develop in adversity and to forge a path of innovative development under harsh conditions. The Soviet area's industries such as agriculture, finance, culture, education, health, and sports were all established and developed from nothing and from small to large under extremely poor conditions and weak foundations. It can be said that without the spirit of hard struggle and indomitable perseverance, the vigorous development of all Soviet area undertakings would not have been possible.

The enterprising spirit of striving for excellence. Striving for excellence is a characteristic of the Soviet area spirit, prominently reflected in creating "first-class work." During the Soviet area period, in the fierce battles of "encirclement and counter-encirclement" and blockade and counter-blockade, the Chinese Communists always maintained high revolutionary morale, set high standards and strict requirements in their work, and creatively led the continuous development of political, economic, military, cultural, educational, health, and other undertakings in the Soviet areas, pioneering "first-class work," enabling the Soviet areas to exert strong effectiveness despite scarce resources. At that time, a number of advanced models emerged, such as "Model Xingguo" and Model Northeast Jiangxi, which were commended by Comrade Mao Zedong and the Chinese Soviet Government.

The noble spirit of selfless dedication. Selfless dedication is the core of the Soviet Area spirit, concentrated in "Everything for the Soviets." The offices of party and government organs at all levels in the Soviet Area were very simple. The nine departments and one bureau of the Central Provisional Government were crowded into 15 small rooms separated by wooden boards in the Xie family ancestral hall in Yeping Village, with ministers working together with two or three staff members. To defend the Soviet regime and expand the Red Army, the vast number of party members and cadres worked selflessly and devotedly, making great contributions and sacrifices for the Chinese revolution. At that time, the population of 13 Soviet counties in southern Jiangxi was about 2.4 million, with about 500,000 young and middle-aged people. About 330,000 joined the army successively, more than 600,000 supported the front, and 108,000 martyrs with names were recorded. The number of martyrs in counties such as Xingguo, Ruijin, Yudu, and Ningdu all exceeded 16,000.

Use the great Soviet Area spirit to inspire the vigorous fighting spirit on the new era's examination journey.

On the new journey, we must summarize and apply the historical experience of building the Central Revolutionary Base Area, use the great Soviet Area spirit to inspire fighting spirit, and walk the new era's examination journey with passion and firm consciousness.

The Soviet Area spirit sharpens us; we must firmly uphold ideals and beliefs, firmly believe that "the doctrine we believe in is the truth of the universe," firmly believe in Marxism and communism, have faith in socialism with Chinese characteristics, and confidence in realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. We must always hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, unswervingly follow our own path, and strive to achieve the goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects.

The Soviet Area spirit shows us that we must adhere to seeking truth from facts, oppose "book worship," continuously advance the sinicization and modernization of Marxism, especially guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. We must uphold the Marxist stance, viewpoint, and methodology, combine the basic principles of Marxism with China's concrete realities and excellent traditional Chinese culture, courageously promote theoretical innovation based on practice, use the vivid and rich contemporary Chinese practice to promote the development of Marxism, and continuously open up new horizons for contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-century Marxism.

The Soviet Area spirit enlightens us that we must uphold the people as supreme, "sincerely seek the interests of the masses," consistently take the people's aspiration for a better life as our goal, continuously deepen the practice of "I do practical things for the masses," focus on solving unbalanced and inadequate development issues and the urgent, difficult, and worrying problems of the people, promote comprehensive human development and common prosperity for all people to achieve more obvious and substantial progress, and let the people of the Soviet Area live a happier and better life.

The Soviet Area spirit inspires us to be brave in pioneering and innovating, strive to create "first-class work," based on the new development stage, fully, accurately, and comprehensively implement the new development concept, build a new development pattern, promote high-quality development, always maintain the spirit of "breaking new ground" and the momentum of "innovation," with the pioneering spirit of "daring to be the first in the world," and the courage and boldness of taking the lead in trials, innovation, and creation, striving to forge a new path of high-quality development in the old revolutionary base areas.

The Soviet Area spirit calls on us to inherit fine traditions, promote the "good work style of Soviet Area cadres," always maintain the political character of Communist Party members as honest, clean, and hardworking, always keep clear-headedness in comprehensively and strictly governing the Party without relaxation, effectively maintain the strict main tone for a long time, unswervingly advance the construction of Party conduct and clean government and the fight against corruption, promote the system and mechanism construction of not daring to be corrupt, not able to be corrupt, and not wanting to be corrupt in an integrated manner, and create a clean political ecology for walking the new examination journey well.
